shop my 'add to cart' so i don't have to
an ex buyer's roundup of the coolest internet finds as of late
Admiring pretty things is one of my great pastimes. And in a world of overconsumption, I’ve felt a bit guilty about that. But I remind myself that I will live with my possessions and take care of them long after the rest of the world has moved on to their next novelty good and all is well again. (The world can’t sustain this many people who carelessly consume, but the world can handle people who are serious about curating their lives. Think Rachel Zoe and her archival closet-we’re talking serious business here.)
That said, sometimes the thrill of the hunt is even more rewarding than the consumption of the product. And that is one of the joys of “add to cart”. I get to hunt for the coolest finds, keep my skills sharp (finding cute sh*t is an art, contrary to what some might think) and have no obligation to buy. But the next best thing to buying cute stuff — is sharing it with you, internet cool person.
So behold, the latest and greatest that my travels on the internet high seas have brought into my digital basket.
Betsey Johnson Mon Cherry Crossbody Bag
I’m really into bags that look like anything but bags in these last few years. I don’t know what’s come over me. I think it’s a graduated step up from being obsessed with ceramics that look like food (who can forget the ceramic container made to look like a stack of pancakes that was all the rage a few short years ago?)
There’s just something so gosh darn fun about a bag that looks like food.
You instantly seem like the most whimsical person in the room and it makes you stand out from the crowd. This little number, made to look like a carton of cherries, is from OG fun designer Betsey Johnson. Glad to see that some of us haven’t fallen prey to quiet luxury. Bonus: this bag has an opaque inner layer of PVC cherries patterned across the bag which means on top of being cute, this bag is very discreet.
Camper Twins Purple Ankle Boots
If Daphne from Scooby Doo went to fashion school and then inked a deal to be in the live-action version of the show in 2025, she would wear these boots. (That was hyper-specific….and that’s perfectly fine.) What’s not to love about these boots!? The perfect pale pastel purple (say that five times fast), the perfect block tube heel for people who actually live in walkable cities and the cutest flower motifs that give these a 60’s mod vibe. I would lean into the 60’s vibe with these and pair these with a shift dress and a cute moto jacket.
